The Australian and Israeli communities are shaken by the powerful statement of Danny Majzner, brother of Galit Carbone, the Australian-Israeli woman brutally murdered by Hamas terrorists on October 7, 2023. Mr. Majzner, 63, has strongly criticized Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese’s recent decision to recognise the Palestinian state, describing it as “disgusting” and a betrayal of Israel.
In an exclusive interview from Israel, Mr. Majzner spoke about the daily pain he endures since his sister was killed in her home at Kibbutz Be’eri, near the Gaza border. The horrific attack claimed dozens of lives in the community, with five victims still missing and believed held in Gaza.
“What is the rush, Mr. Albanese, to recognise a Palestinian state?” Majzner asked, stressing that Australia should stand as an ally of Israel and leave such matters to be discussed at the United Nations by other nations. He accused the government of rewarding Hamas terrorists, particularly the former leader Yahya Sinwar, who was killed by Israeli forces last year.
Danny Majzner and his sister were born and raised in Australia before moving with their family to Israel. The family remains devastated by the loss of Galit, a mother of three and grandmother of two, who was killed in cold blood inside a safe room in her home.
Majzner plans to visit Australia next month and seeks a meeting with Prime Minister Albanese to express his outrage and discuss the critical situation in Israel.
“We are the victims, we did not start this war,” he emphasized. “I do not want peace with those who hide weapons and terrorists among them. Every civilian in Gaza is a potential terrorist to me.”
He also criticized Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for failing to manage the crisis properly, urging him to take responsibility.
Danny Majzner’s remarks add fuel to the growing debate over Australia’s position on the Middle East, particularly amid strong reactions to the federal government’s recognition of the Palestinian state, a move that has sparked controversy across the political spectrum and public opinion.
