Renowned Philanthropist, Mr N. Andrianakos, speaks to “Ta Nea”

29 January, 2020

Well-known businessman, Mr N. Andrianakos, who is renowned within the Greek community of Melbourne as a prominent Philanthropist, has been recently honoured by Archbishop Makarios, with the title of “Archon”, for his contribution to the initiative of the Archdiocese to establish Centres of Detoxination from narcotics.

Mr Andrianakos donated a block of land for this purpose, as well as $1,000,000 for the building of such a Centre.

In a short interview t our newspaper, Mr Andrianakos said, amongst other things:

“I love to share money. Since my early youth I felt a strong obligation to help others, particularly young people, without “fuss”. For many years now, since 1982, I could see young people suffering terribly from the curse of drugs and I didn’t like that at all.

The things I saw convinced me that looking after our family only is not enough: we must help other families who suffer with pain as much as we can.

So, after all those years, came the right moment for me to activate this thought, by donating one block of land at Tallarook, in the north of Melbourne, as well as $1m for the beginning of the works to build a Centre of Detoxination for young people-and others, of course-who want to get rid of this curse.”

Congratulations, Mr Andrianakos for another great initiative and many, many thanks!
