Two Turkish military operatives killed by India. Turkey sent drone operators to assist Pakistan’s attacks on India
Two Turkish military operatives were reportedly killed during Operation Sindoor, which has revealed that Turkey not only supported Pakistan in its conflict with India by supplying over 350 drones, but also by providing drone operators, sources told India Today TV.
According to those sources, Turkish advisors assisted Pakistani Army officials in coordinating drone strikes against India following Operation Sindoor.
Pakistan is believed to have used Bayraktar TB2 and YIHA drones against India. These drones are reportedly being used for target acquisition and possibly kamikaze-style strikes, particularly to threaten forward Indian positions or resupply convoys.
Turkey’s strategic defence ties with Pakistan have grown at an alarming rate in recent years. The Turkish government has not only supplied critical military equipment but has also provided training to Pakistan’s armed forces.
During the night of 7–8 May, the Pakistani Army reportedly deployed around 300–400 drones to target Indian military infrastructure along the northern and western borders.
“A forensic investigation is underway on the drone debris. Preliminary reports suggest they were Turkish-made Asisguard Songar drones,” stated Colonel Sofiya Qureshi during a press briefing on Operation Sindoor.
“The Indian armed forces intercepted and downed many of these drones using both kinetic and non-kinetic methods. The likely objective of these large-scale aerial incursions was to test air defence systems and gather intelligence,” Colonel Qureshi added.
