The United Nations Security Council has strongly condemned the September 9 attacks in Doha, emphasizing the importance of maintaining stability in the Gulf region.

In their official statement, Council members expressed “deep sorrow” for the loss of civilian lives and described Qatar as a “key mediator” in ongoing diplomatic efforts for Middle East peace.

The Council underscored the need for de-escalation and reaffirmed its support for Qatar’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, reminding all parties of the UN Charter’s principles. It further praised Qatar’s critical role, alongside Egypt and the United States, in mediating between warring factions and pushing for the release of hostages.

This statement comes amid heightened tensions in the Middle East and reinforces Qatar’s position as a pivotal actor in maintaining communication channels and fostering prospects for a peaceful resolution.
